Evony - Free Online RPG Game

Evony is an online rpg game that runs in a browser and plays in real time. Signup is 100% free, although some aspects of the game do attract charges, they are totally optional. Evony is a great little browser game and has grown like wildfire over recent months and already has millions of players.

The game is set in the middle ages and places you in the position of a feudal Lord or Lady. Your initial goal is to set up and protect a city, build an army and recruit heroes.

Once you have this army there is little point in having it sit around now is there?

Your next goal is to expand your territory, conquer your neighbours and build new cities. Carrying out all these tasks successfully will increase your rank, cash and honour.

Evony - Real Time Strategy Game

It should be noted that the game is played true real time. This means that your cities still continue to make resources while you are away, but the downside is that it means you can be attacked while you are away from the game also. New players to the game do get a week’s worth of beginner’s protection though. This should stop them getting stomped by players that have been playing a while, before the newbie’s have a chance to develop.

As I mentioned earlier the objective of this RPG game is to build an army and conquer territory etc. Well, to do these things you need to build various buildings and gather resources. The process of doing this takes time and a good choice of strategy. If you are the impatient type then Evony allows you to buy scrolls called “guidelines” that will speed up the building process. Additional scrolls can be earned for completing tasks in the game. Thankfully when you open an account some of these scrolls are given to you for free. The wait time for building isn’t excessive, but some players do get kind of addicted to using scrolls. Watch out!

The game offers a number of types of building for your city from marketplaces and barns to store and sell goods to stables and inns for your populace and their mounts. Resource gathering buildings such as farms, mines, sawmills are important to your success in the game. Finally make sure you build an adequate defence with troops and defensive buildings.

Making Friends and Alliances in Evony

Probably the most important building in Evony is your embassy, as this allows you to form alliances with other players. It is this social aspect that stops this being just another browser RPG game.
